Willock arrived at Newcastle from rival Premier League side Arsenal in the last winter transfer window on a six-month loan deal.

The 21-year-old has impressed in his nine appearances for the Magpies since arriving on Tyneside, scoring three goals in the process.

Newcastle boss Bruce has revealed he is keen on keeping Willock at St. James’ Park beyond his current stint and stressed his club will hold talks with Arsenal in the summer over the midfielder’s future.

Willock’s latest outing in Magpies colours saw him scoring the winning goal as his team beat West Ham United 3-2, giving a boost to their survival hopes in the top flight, and Bruce feels there are a lot of moments left to come from the player as he sees a big future for him on the pitch.

“’He’s a young lad. I’d love to keep him here”, Bruce told a press conference when asked about Willock.

“Obviously, we’ll have big discussions with Arsenal but he’s the modern day player: young, fit, athletic.

“He’s only 21 so he’s got a big future.”

Newcastle are set to travel to top four chasing Liverpool at the weekend in the league and it remains to be seen whether Willock will be in the starting eleven for the clash.
