Adrian has a contract with the Reds coming to an end this summer and the Anfield outfit are yet to trigger the option to extend his deal by another year.

Lingering doubts regarding the Spaniard’s ability to be a proper backup for Alisson could see Liverpool sign a new goalkeeper when the transfer window opens.

The Merseyside-based club are said to be long time admirers of Trabzonspor goalkeeper Cakir and could bring him in to provide cover and competition for Alisson.

And according to Turkish magazine Fanatik, Jurgen Klopp’s side are set to step up their interest in the 25-year-old by making an offer to Trabzonspor.

The Turkish outfit, though, expect to bag a fee in the region of €20m, €25m for the sale of Cakir, who has a contract with the club until the summer of 2024.

Though Liverpool are said to be preparing a bid, it remains to be seen if they are willing to fork out such a sum for a backup goalkeeper.

Along with the Reds, Cakir has also been linked with Aston Villa, Tottenham, Inter Milan and Borussia Dortmund.
