The Addicks claimed a 1-0 victory over League One champions Hull City in their final league game of the season on Sunday though they ultimately fell short of claiming a playoff spot.

Starring on the left-hand side for Charlton were Chelsea left-back Maatsen and Liverpool winger Millar, who Addicks boss Adkins thought were exceptional, especially in the second-half.

The 56-year-old explained that the loan duo linked up well on the left flank and insisted that their class was there to be seen in their games.

I thought Millar and Maatsen down the left-hand side in the second-half, they looked exceptional“, Adkins was quoted as saying by London News Online.

Both players on loan from Premier League clubs and you can see that bit of class they’ve got, they linked up really well.

Adkins also heaped praise on Maatsen and Millar, as well other loan stars in Charlton’s squad, for their good attitudes and went on to wish them luck in their careers.

Loan players can be good from a budgetary point of view“, Adkins said.

I’m delighted with the loan players because sometimes loan players can come in and have poor attitudes but the five guys we’ve had have had exceptionally brilliant attitudes and I wish them all well with their careers moving forwards.

Hopefully the experiences they have had have helped them in their journey to be top-class players.

Maatsen scored one goal and provided three assists from 34 League One appearances this season, while Millar scored three and set up six goals from 27 appearances.
