The 22-year-old midfielder has been one of the most influential players in a Lille team who are trying to chase down an improbable Ligue 1 title.

The French side are three points clear at the top of the league table with three games left but even before the season is over there is talk of them losing one of their best players in Soumare.

The 22-year-old midfielder is wanted by Everton, Leeds and Newcastle, but it had been suggested that Leicester are in pole position to secure his signature.

However, it has been claimed that a deal is far from being done for Soumare to move to the King Power Stadium this summer.

Leicester are not expected to know whether they will be successful in their pursuit of the midfielder until the end of the season, potentially opening the door for the player’s other suitors.

The Foxes are sitting fourth in the Premier League table and Champions League qualification is likely to be a deciding factor.

Soumare has a year left on his contract and there are suggestions that Lille are likely to accept an offer of €20m.

But for the moment no deal is done despite Leicester’s serious interest in the Frenchman and it remains to be seen if Everton, Leeds and Newcastle will also move for him.
