The German has impressed in his season-long loan stint at Belgian giants Anderlecht, finding the back of the net 19 times across all competitions so far this season.

The striker will enter the final twelve months of his current deal at the Etihad Stadium in the summer and it has been suggested the Premier League champions will not be looking to offer him a new contract.

Anderlecht are keen on keeping Nmecha beyond the current campaign and manager Kompany has revealed the deal-makers at his club are working on a move for him.

The Belgian explained where the Paars-Wit finish off the current campaign could play a key factor in their efforts to land Nmecha as the club need to be an attractive destination for him to continue his career.

“If he scores and we win, it will affect our stature and Lukas may become more feasible”, Kompany was quoted as saying by Belgian daily Het Laatste Nieuws.

“If we lose while he scores, it may be the other way around.

“Well, we’ll see what it turns out to be.

“Other people within the club are working on his case.”

It has been suggested sealing Champions League qualification could boost Anderlecht’s chances of holding on to Nmecha, but the club are currently third in the Jupiler Pro League Championship Round.
