The Premier League duo still have two more league games and the Champions League final to play, but have started planning for next season, with the transfer window fast approaching.

Manchester City are keen to go from strength to strength having sealed the league title, while Chelsea are determined to build on the progress they have made under Thomas Tuchel.

The Champions League finalists want to add strength to the right side of their defence and are said to have identified a potential signing in the French top flight.

According to German magazine Kicker, Chelsea and Manchester City have expressed an interest in Lens’ 28-year-old wing-back Clauss.

Spanish La Liga outfit Sevilla are also credited with an interest in the player, who could be available for a fee in the region of €6m to €10m.

Clauss joined Lens from German club Arminia Bielefeld on a free transfer last summer and has gone on to establish himself as a key player for the Ligue 1 side.

The Frenchman has scored three goals and provided six assists from 32 league appearances for Lens, who sit sixth in the table going into the final game of the campaign.
