The Senegal international is widely considered to be one of the best centre-backs in world football, but Napoli have priced him out of a move away in recent transfer windows.

He has been linked with a host of Premier League sides in recent years and Morabito insists that Liverpool are the club currently leading the chase for his services.

He said on Italian radio station Radio Marte’s Si Gonfia la Rete: “There is concrete interest in both [Fabian Ruiz and Koulibaly], but it must be said that after the virus, prices will be down.

“Liverpool are in pole for Koulibaly and they are even a club that can economically satisfy [Napoli president Aurelio] De Laurentiis.”

The Reds are expected to snap up a centre-back in the summer transfer window and have been strongly linked with RB Leipzig’s Ibrahima Konate.

The club also have Turkey international Ozan Kabak on loan from Schalke and boast an option to buy in his deal.

Koulibaly is due to turn 30 years old next month and the jury is out on whether Liverpool would be prepared to splash a big fee on him.
