With Schalke having been relegated to the 2. Bundesliga, the club are preparing for life in the second tier of German football and are set to undergo an overhaul.

The club released a list of ten players who will be leaving the club at the end of the season due to the end of their contracts or their loan stints coming to an end.

The German giants also confirmed the list of loan players who will be returning to their parent clubs.

But curiously, the name of club captain Kolasinac is missing from the loan stars who will be leaving Schalke.

Schalke do not have an option to buy in the loan agreement and there is no confirmation of an agreement in place with Arsenal to extend the defender’s chase.

Kolasinac shares a deep bond with Schalke and has often spoken about staying at the club for the long term.

But his wages were always a problem but it is likely to be a much bigger issue for the club in the second tier of German football.

Former Arsenal defender Shkodran Mustafi is also leaving Schalke.

The club have insisted they will comment on further changes to their squad and backroom team as and when they happen.
