The 17-year-old made his senior debut for Valenciennes in October and has gone on to make 22 appearances across all competitions for the side this season.

Doukoure’s performances have seen him make his way on to the transfer wishlist of several clubs, including Premier League trio Arsenal, Everton and Leicester City.

The centre-back has also attracted significant interest from France’s top flight, with Lyon, Marseille, Saint-Etienne and Rennes named among the clubs keen on him.

As Doukoure continue to attract more interest, Ligue 1 outfit Strasbourg have stepped up their interest in the teenager, according to French outlet Foot Mercato.

Keen to win the race for Doukoure, Strasbourg head of recruitment Loic Desire is said to have held talks with the defender’s father recently.

It is said that the talks between Strasbourg and Doukoure’s father went well, with Doukoure senior declaring that his son is ready to join the club.

Having held positive talks with Doukoure’s father, Strasbourg appear to be leading the race for the defender’s signature, but it remains to be seen if Arsenal, Everton or Leicester will make a late effort to hijack the deal.
