Roma are getting ready to welcome Jose Mourinho as their new coach in the coming weeks and work is under way to retool the squad to his needs.

The incoming Roma coach has identified midfield as one of the areas he wants Roma to further strengthen the squad in this summer and the club are looking at a number of players.

Manchester United’s Nemanja Matic is reportedly a target but their top target is believed to be at Mourinho’s previous club Tottenham.

According to Italian outlet Gazzetta dello Sport, Ndombele is the midfielder Roma really want to add to their squad this summer.

He is the dream candidate for both Roma and Mourinho, and the club are devising a plan to make an approach.

But prizing him out of Tottenham is likely to be expensive as the north London club are not prepared to let the player go.

Roma will try and propose a loan deal to Tottenham in their bid to take Ndombele to the eternal city this summer.

The Frenchman initially struggled to convince Mourinho at Spurs but eventually he became a major player for the Portuguese in the team.
