The Yorkshire giants, who are looking to make sure they build on their top half of the Premier League finish next season, are expected to sign a natural left-back in the summer.

Ezgjan Alioski could depart following the expiry of his contract at the end of June and the Whites have held an interest in Brest defender Perraud.

It was claimed in some quarters that Leeds are on the brink of signing the Frenchman, but that talk is wide of the mark.

Instead Leeds have ended attempts to land Perraud from Brest.

The Yorkshire giants are now tipped to look elsewhere as they hunt a new left-back to come into the club during the rapidly approaching summer transfer window; they have been linked with Ajax’s Nicolas Tagliafico.

Head coach Marcelo Bielsa is expected to be backed when the window opens as the Whites look to improve on their finish in the just concluded season.

Bielsa is out of contract this summer, but is set to put pen to paper to another 12-month deal soon, as he continues his spell in charge.
