Wijnaldum has played his last game for Liverpool and will be leaving the club on a free transfer this summer.

Barcelona have been linked with wanting to snap him up for several months, while Bayern Munich were also floated as an option for the Dutchman.

Wijnaldum is expected to move to Barcelona and Zenden believes his experience of working with Koeman should play a key role in taking him to the Nou Camp.

He also believes that his free agent status and his experience at the top level with Liverpool makes him a more or less a risk-free acquisition for Barcelona if they eventually sign him.

Zenden told Dutch daily De Telegraaf: “Koeman and Georginio have worked together successfully at the Oranje and now he is available on a free transfer.

“So, getting him is not a big gamble.

“Wijnaldum has proved himself in the Premier League and the Champions League.”

Wijnaldum was offered a new contract at Liverpool, but knocked it back in favour of continuing his career elsewhere.
