Alioski will be out of contract in a little over a month and has been linked with a move away from Leeds on a free transfer this summer.

Leeds want to keep the player at the club following a solid first season in the Premier League and are prepared to offer him a new deal.

No agreement is in place between the club and the player and Matteo is clear that he wants Leeds to keep a player who has proved his worth this year in the Premier League.

However, the former Leeds star feels that the club will need to invest in the left-back area this summer even if Alioski decided to stay at Elland Road.

Matteo wrote in his column for the Yorkshire Evening Post: “Gjanni Alioski is obviously well-liked by the lads at Leeds, he’s a bit lively at times.

“He’s surprised me a little bit this season with his performances, he really has done alright and maybe it’s worth keeping him.

“Regardless of what he decides to do, we will still need to strengthen in the left-back area.”

The 29-year-old has been at Leeds since 2017 and has featured 171 times for the Yorkshire giants.
