Following their title winning campaign in the Scottish top flight this season, the Gers have already started to lay the groundwork to reach further heights next term, with Champions League football also up for grabs.

Before Steven Gerrard rallies his troops for August’s Champions League qualifiers, Rangers will need to get up to speed and are in the process of marking their calendars with a pre-season schedule.

And as revealed by Sonderjyske director of football Klaus Rasmussen, the Danish side will be facing the Scottish top flight champions in a friendly as part of pre-season training in Portugal.

“We’ll meet Glasgow Rangers and Braga in Portugal”, Rasmussen told Danish daily Der Nordschleswiger.

Rasmussen added that the training camp which will see Sonderjyske take on Portuguese giants Braga in addition to Rangers is completely financed by the club’s owner.

“We will do a summer training camp in Portugal for the first time and visit Casa Pia.

“This training camp is 100 per cent financed by [club owner Robert] Platek.”

Rangers are expected to announce a raft of friendlies in the coming weeks as they gear up for a top flight title defence next season, while also aspiring to make waves at continental level.
