Spurs’ super-secret pursuit of a new manager has taken a turn as it has emerged the club are in talks with Pochettino to take him back to north London.

Pochettino was sacked by Tottenham in 2019 and the Argentine took charge of Paris Saint-Germain in January, where he failed to win the league title this season.

The Argentine is believed to be frustrated at the way the things run at PSG and is open to a return to Tottenham where he spent five-and-a-half years.

Roberts believes Tottenham are in a similar position to where they were when Pochettino first took charge of the club and feels the club need the same kind of energy back this summer.

“When Poch first joined the club there was a lot of people to clear out quickly”, the Spurs legend took to Twitter and wrote.

“He did this and also gave youth a chance we need this again with some top players added.

“We need to create that incredible spirit we had again.”

Pochettino has a year left on his PSG contract and the Parisians have not shown an interest in sacking him despite his failure in the league and the Champions League, with him coming in in mid-season a factor.
