A difficult and disappointing end to the season means Ancelotti is now looking to further bolster his Everton squad ahead of the new season without the lure of European football.

He has already spoken about the need to bring in a winger in the summer and the Everton manager is also keen to bolster his defensive options in the window as well.

The Toffees are considering a number of options across the board when it comes to signing a defender, but Ancelotti has a clear choice of who he wants.

According to Italian broadcaster Rai, the Everton boss wants to reunite with Napoli centre-back Koulibaly this summer on Merseyside, a player he has regularly been linked with wanting.

He managed him at Napoli and now wants to take his experience and add it to the Everton squad in the coming months.

Napoli have resisted selling Koulibaly over the last several years despite interest from a host of clubs, including from the Premier League.

The Serie A giants decided against letting him join Manchester City last summer and Manchester United have been linked with being keen.

But Ancelotti also wants him and the Serie A giants are claimed to be ready to cash in on the centre-back this summer.
