The 19-year-old spent the second half of the 2020/21 season on loan at Preston North End and made 16 appearances for Frankie McAvoy’s side.


Having been impressed with Van den Berg, the Lilywhites are interested in taking him to Deepdale on loan again for the 2021/22 campaign.



The Dutchman is said to have attracted interest from other clubs, but Liverpool are willing to let him return and continue his development at Preston North End.


With the Anfield outfit open to doing business with the Lilywhites again, Van den Berg is edging closer to a loan return to the Lancashire-based club.



Preston North End are in line to hold talks with the Netherlands Under-19 international this week before shaking hands on a new loan deal.


The signs are positive for the Championship club as they are also edging closer to agreeing another loan deal for Leicester City goalkeeper Daniel Iversen.



Liverpool, on the other hand, strengthened their defensive department with the addition of Ibrahima Konate from RB Leipzig last week.
