The Liverpool captain made 21 appearances for the Reds in the Premier League this season before undergoing surgery on a groin injury in February which ruled him out for the tail end of the season.

Despite spending the last three months on the sidelines, the Liverpool captain was named in England’s 26-man squad for the European Championship.

Agbonlahor is baffled by the decision to include Henderson in the England squad and insisted that he is not fit enough to play in the big games that England are likely to find themselves in.

The former Aston Villa striker went on to state that big managers in the likes of Spain’s Enrique have left legends like Sergio Ramos out of his squad for the European Championship due to injury concerns while Southgate has not done the same.

“The tournament starts in 10 days”, Agbonlahor told talkSPORT.

“You are playing against Croatia, you are playing against a good team, you need to be at it.

“You need the training sessions before the game

“You need some games in you.

“He [Henderson] hasn’t played for three months, why are we having this conversation?

“Big managers like Luis Enrique tells Ramos, sorry pal you are out, Spanish legend, legend of the game, you’ve been injured that much time you are out.”

Henderson’s fitness remains in question as England look ahead to the competition which is scheduled to commence later this month.
