The Italian is the frontrunner to take over the reins at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium as negotiations are at an advanced stage, with his agents currently in talks over his salary and what the proposed project at the club would be.

Conte is fresh from parting ways with Italian giants Inter, where he left owing to dispute with the club’s owners just weeks after leading them to their first Serie A title in eleven years.

Ex-Spurs star Mido has insisted appointing Conte would be the worst idea for the club at the moment as he would never get along with Levy and the club’s board.

Mido added that Conte’s appointment could result in a toxic environment developing at Spurs, which is not healthy for a club having ambitions to grow.

Conte could be the worst idea for Spurs”, Mido wrote on Twitter.

“Great coach but he will never get along with Levy.

“He will come out and attack the board every couple of weeks.

“You need [a] healthy environment to build success!!

“It will be toxic for everyone at the football club.”

It has been claimed that at the moment the Spurs dressing room is also divided at the prospect of having Conte as their new boss.
