Having scored eight goals and provided 13 assists across all competitions for the Bundesliga side in 2020/21, Hofmann has made his way onto the transfer wish list of Chelsea and Tottenham.

Newly-crowned LaLiga champions Atletico Madrid have also been linked with a move for the 28-year-old, who is claimed to be learning Spanish ahead of a potential move to Spain.

Despite the growing interest, Borussia Monchengladbach sporting director Eberl has insisted that the German top flight club do not want to sell Hofmann this summer.

However, the 47-year-old admitted that the Bundesliga outfit will find it difficult to keep the Germany international if they receive an offer of around €40m.

We live in a time when nothing can be ruled out“, Eberl told German daily Bild.

But we certainly don’t want to sell Jonas.

If at some point a club say they are offering €40m for Jonas, no club can say that we are not interested.

It has been claimed that Hofmann could be available for around €15m this summer, but Eberl quoting a €40m price tag suggests Borussia Monchengladbach are not willing to let him leave easily.
