The 21-year-old played a key role in Leeds finishing ninth in their first season back in the Premier League, the Frenchman keeping eleven clean sheets from 35 appearances.

Having impressed for the Whites in the 2020/21 season, Meslier emerged as a potential future transfer target for Ligue 1 giants PSG, who are said to be eyeing the goalkeeper as a replacement for Keylor Navas.

And now, Meslier’s agent Pouliquen has confirmed that the French club’s do have an interest in the youngster by revealing that they have been monitoring him.

However, the footballer-turned-agent explained that Meslier is focused on continuing his development by playing regularly at Leeds, something that he feels is not possible at PSG currently.

PSG are watching, but Illan’s goal is to play, especially at his age“, Pouliquen told French regional daily Le Telegramme.

He has just had his first season in the Premier League, he will have to confirm [his level] in the second.

Going to PSG to take over from Navas in a year or two, and not play, what’s the point?

His development would be much greater by continuing to play at Leeds or elsewhere.

He left Lorient so as not to sit on a bench.

From the start at Leeds, the plan was clear.

He started with the U23s and was scheduled to become the starter within two years.

It just happened faster.

Having impressed as Leeds’ number 1 in the 2020/21 season, Meslier will be looking to build on the momentum when the Whites return to action next term.
