Conte, who has left Inter after leading them to the Serie A title in the 2020/21 season, emerged as an option to take charge as Tottenham’s new boss last week.

There were suggestions that a deal was close, but the north London outfit ended up calling off a move for the Italian tactician after talks with the coach broke down.

It is said that Tottenham pulled the plug on a deal for the 51-year-old after being concerned about his demands, especially in the transfer market.

Reflecting on Tottenham’s manager hunt, ex-striker Mido has insisted that Spurs fans should not expect club chairman Levy to give the job to a manager who wants full control over footballing decisions.

Tottenham fans should know better“, Mido wrote on Twitter.

Daniel Levy will never bring any manager in who wants full control of the football decisions, [he] will never bring in a demanding manager.

That’s why he sacked Poch [Mauricio Pochettino] when he started to ask for more players when he started to compare his team to [Manchester] City.

The Egyptian also stressed that Tottenham need a top manager and at least four top players ahead of the new season.

Building a new stadium is great for the owners, it allows them to make more money but it means nothing to the fans“, he wrote.

Fans want to see their team signing the best players and the best managers around.

Spurs need at least four top players all around and a top manager.

Having called off a move for Conte, it remains to be seen who Tottenham will turn to next as they continue their hunt for a new head coach.
