Everton are in the market for a new manager after Carlo Ancelotti decided to leave the club in favour of returning to Real Madrid at the end of last season.

The Merseyside club have compiled a list of names and several coaches have already been linked with a move to Goodison Park.

Garcia is now being linked with the manager’s post at Everton and it has been claimed that there is contact between Everton and the Frenchman.

According to French sports daily L’Equipe, the 57-year-old is on Everton’s shortlist and an initial set of talks have taken place between the two parties.

Garcia left Lyon at the end of the season and is interested in returning to football management immediately.

His camp believe that Everton’s interest in him is credible but for the moment, they are not preparing to pack their bags for England.

Nothing concrete is yet to take place and for the moment, the Frenchman has only been sounded out by Everton.

The Toffees are also considering other managers with Nuno Espirito Santo and Rafael Benitez also on their radar.
