The 23-year-old has a contract with Koln coming to an end this month and Rangers have been doing their homework on the player ahead of potentially taking him to Ibrox.

Several top Bundesliga club and Turkish giants Besiktas have also been credited with an interest in Ozcan, but Koln are keen to retain his services beyond the summer.

The German top flight have been trying to convince the midfielder to put pen to paper on a new deal with the club for several months, but to no avail.

And now according to German magazine Kicker, Koln have made a fresh attempt to convince Ozcan to commit his future to the club, amidst interest from the likes of Rangers.

Koln, who retain hope of keeping hold of Ozcan, have touched base with the Germany Under-21 international and are engaged in talks over the possibility of signing a new deal.

“We are talking to each other [to see] whether there could still be a future together”, Koln sporting director Jorg Jakobs told Kicker.

Rangers will be hoping to see Ozcan turn down Koln’s latest attempt to tie him down to a new deal and move to Ibrox on a free transfer instead.

The Gers have already signed forward Fashion Sakala on a free transfer and are said to be keen to bolster their midfield options with the addition of Ozcan.
