Doekhi has entered the final year of his contract at Eredivisie side Vitesse and has been linked with a leaving the club in the ongoing transfer window.

The centre-back has been credited with interest from several clubs across Europe in the likes of Newcastle United, Norwich City, Fulham, and Serie A outfit Atalanta, while Scottish Premiership champions Rangers are also keeping tabs on him.

Vitesse technical director Spors considers Doekhi a key part of his club’s squad and stressed they would like to have him in their ranks beyond the current transfer window.

However, Spors admitted that if a top club are willing to meet his asking price then they are not against seeing him leave.

“We would like to keep Doekhi, but we also have to be realistic”, Spors was quoted as saying by Dutch football magazine Voetbal International.

“If a top club can and want to meet his asking price, then it can be interesting.

“We don’t want Doekhi to go, but we also understand that we develop [players] at Vitesse.”

Vitesse are yet to receive any concrete offers for Doekhi and it remains to be seen whether he will find himself playing top flight football abroad in the upcoming season.
