The Whites have begun the hunt for a new goalkeeper to provide cover for Illan Meslier after Kiko Casilla completed a season-long loan move to Elche.

Among the list of players Leeds have identified as potential replacements for the Spaniard is Valerenga’s 20-year-old goalkeeper Klaesson.

Leeds, who spotted Klaesson first in 2019, are said to have rekindled their interest in the youngster, with Valerenga bracing for an offer from the Yorkshire club.

However, the Elland Road outfit are facing competition in the race to acquire the services of Klaesson in the shape of an unnamed Premier League club.

Apart from the English top flight club, a Spanish La Liga side are also claimed to be in the mix for the Norwegian goalkeeper.

With the competition for Klaesson increasing, it remains to be seen if Leeds director of football Victor Orta can act quickly and get a deal over the line soon.

The Whites also have Newcastle United goalkeeper Freddie Woodman and Getafe custodian Dani Cardenas in mind as alternatives for the 20-year-old.
