After a solid season at Heerenveen, Veerman has been heavily linked with a move away from the Dutch club in the ongoing transfer window.

Rangers have been keeping tabs on the Dutch midfielder, with Steven Gerrard claimed to believe he can take Veerman’s game to the next level.

Veerman would slot in to add to Gerrard’s options in midfield ahead of a campaign which the Gers hope will involve Champions League group stage football.

But Rangers are yet to put in a formal offer for Veerman while Hellas Verona have already tabled a bid worth €5m for him.

Heerenveen specialist journalist Sander De Vries said on the Leeuwarder Courant’s podcast KOKO Radio: “They [Rangers] have not made a formal offer.

“Hellas Verona have already done it, a bid of €5m.

“Rangers have been following him for a long time and they find Veerman an interesting player.”

Veerman remains very much up for grabs as Heerenveen are unlikely to accept a €5m offer.

It has been claimed that the Dutch club are holding out for around €10m before agreeing to let him go.
