Dortmund have been in talks with Malen’s agent Mino Raiola for several weeks over taking him to the Westfalenstadion in the ongoing transfer window.

The Dutchman has been identified as Jadon Sancho’s replacement and the German giants have a contractual agreement in place with Raiola for Malen.

But negotiations between PSV and Dortmund have not been smooth and there is still some distance between what the Dutch giants want and the BVB are prepared to offer.

Liverpool also have an interest in him but the Reds have not reportedly gone beyond making an initial enquiry for Malen yet.

However, according to Dutch magazine Voetbal International, Liverpool are still monitoring the forward’s situation this summer.

The Reds are unable to move for players this summer as they are now focused on selling some of their fringe stars.

They remain interested in Malen but Dortmund have the edge in the race to land the forward this summer.

There is expected to be some movement in the Malen saga this week with PSV expecting a formal bid from the German giants.

Liverpool are set to raise cash from selling Marko Grujic and Taiwo Awoniyi and it remains to be seen if that prompts them to lodge a bid.
