Pellegrini is out of contract at Roma next summer and the Giallorossi are looking to lock him down on a fresh deal.

The 25-year-old midfielder is ready to stay at Roma and has recently spoken with new coach Jose Mourinho to stress they remain his priority, but he has interest from elsewhere with Tottenham admirers.

According to Italian outlet Calciomercato.com, Tottenham football managing director Fabio Paratici has Pellegrini on his list of targets, but Spurs are reluctant to trigger his buy-out clause.

Pellegrini has a €30m release clause in his Roma contract, however it will expire in ten days’ time.

Tottenham could still try to sign the midfielder after the clause has passed, but with Roma keen to keep him the negotiation could become more complicated.

Pellegrini has also attracted interest from Barcelona and Liverpool, though both clubs have backed away from the chase.

He currently earns €2.5m a year at Roma and the Giallorossi will need to hand him an improvement to convince him to pen a fresh deal.
