The 26-year-old midfielder has 12 months left on his contract and Bayern Munich want to sign him on a fresh new deal as soon as possible.

But negotiations have not gone according to plan as Bayern Munich do not want to meet his wage demands of €20m per year on the new contract.

The German champions are only prepared to provide him with a new deal worth €10m to €12m per year at the moment.

Manchester United have offered him concrete terms and their offer is more lucrative than Bayern Munich’s.

The Red Devils are keeping close tabs on his situation and have been in contact with his representatives.

Goretzka wants to stay at Bayern Munich, but wants his salary to reflect his status as one of the top players at the Allianz Arena.

The German champions are set to hold more talks with his representatives and remain confident of agreeing on a new deal.

It remains to be seen if a new contract is not agreed whether Bayern Munich be prepared to sell him or risk Goretzka leaving on a free transfer next year.
