Manchester United have been making steady progress towards securing a deal to sign the centre-back this summer.

Varane is close to agreeing on personal terms with Manchester United over a contract and has been pushing for the move to Old Trafford.

Manchester United have also opened talks with Real Madrid as they seek to work out an agreement over a fee and there are suggestions that a deal could be agreed this week.

Real Madrid are aware that Varane has a lucrative offer from Manchester United and according to French sports daily L’Equipe, he will almost double his wages if he joins the Old Trafford outfit.

The Frenchman has been Manchester United’s top target for several months despite having other centre-backs on their shortlist.

He has 12 months left on his current contract and has so far refused to sign a new deal despite Real Madrid making an offer.

The Spanish giants are also preparing to cash in on him and a deal worth €50m could be agreed for his transfer.

Varane is seeking a fresh challenge after a decade at Real Madrid and is keen on playing in the Premier League.
