Henderson led Liverpool to their first league title in 30 years last year and helped them win the Champions League in 2019, but faces an uncertain future at Anfield.

The England international has entered the final two years of his contract with the Reds and negotiations over a new deal have not been positive so far.

Lack of progress in talks with Henderson over a new deal have led to suggestions that he could leave the club this summer, something that they should avoid at all costs, according to Aldridge.

Aldridge is aware of the Liverpool hierarchy’s reluctance to hand long contracts to players over the age of 30, but feels that should not be a reason to let Henderson go.

The Englishman is confident that Henderson wants to continue at Anfield and urged Liverpool’s money men and Klopp to sit down with him and end the impasse.

This is a moment for the agent, Jordan, Liverpool’s money men and Klopp to sit down and get this resolved“, Aldridge wrote in his Sunday World column.

I’m sure Jordan wants to stay at Liverpool, given everything he has achieved at the club.

And if that is the case, there has to be a way to find an agreement for him to stay.

Liverpool are one of the biggest clubs in the world, and there is no way wages should be an issue when it comes to getting him tied down to a new contract.

What is an issue is the unwillingness of the club to give long contracts to players over 30.

All in all, the club need to nip this story in the bud quickly and make sure the captain is not tempted by bigger money elsewhere.

Atletico Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain have been credited with an interest in Henderson, but it remains to be seen if Liverpool will let go of their Premier League winning captain.
