The 18-year-old striker made his senior debut for Manchester City against Bournemouth in the EFL Cup last season and marked the occasion with a goal.

Having seen Delap step up to the senior squad in the last campaign, the Citizens are now looking to send him out on loan for a season to help him gain first team experience.

Manchester City were initially planning to allow the teenager to join a Championship club on loan, but Vincent Kompany’s Anderlecht could prove to be a better option.

According to Belgian outlet Walfoot, Anderlecht are interested in signing Delap from the Premier League champions on loan ahead of the start of the new season.

The Belgian Pro League club are expected to sit down with Manchester City and Delap over talks soon, but are aware that it is not easy to get the deal over the line.

Former Manchester City striker Lukas Nmecha impressed during his time on loan at Anderlecht last season before sealing a permanent move to Wolfsburg this month.

And Kompany’s side will be hoping that the German Under-21s striker’s form will help them in their efforts to sign Delap on a temporary basis this summer.

Delap has a contract with Manchester City running until 2023 and the English champions are keen to extend it before sanctioning a loan move for him.
