A €50m deal is in place between Manchester United and Real Madrid over taking Varane to Old Trafford in the ongoing transfer window.

But quarantine rules in England means that it could take a week for Manchester United to confirm the defender’s arrival.

Varane’s entourage and Manchester United are planning his travel to England and all the protocols he would have to follow.

But according to Spanish daily AS, the 28-year-old is unlikely to travel to England before Thursday at the earliest.

He would have to quarantine for five days in England before he would be able to meet up with his new team-mates at Manchester United.

Manchester United are also considering whether to put Varane through a medical in Spain.

But they would have to depend on local medical staff to carry out the procedure as doctors travelling from England to Spain would also have to quarantine.

But a deal is done and Manchester United are now just finalising how to navigate all the protocols of the new reality and get Varane on board as soon as possible.
