Emerson wants to leave Chelsea in the current window as he is struggling to impose himself at Stamford Bridge and looks set for a season of limited football if he stays.

He has a year left on his contract and Chelsea are considering triggering the one-year option to further safeguard his value.

Napoli are interested in getting their hands on him but would like to sign him on loan, which Chelsea are not prepared to grant at the moment.

And according to Italian daily Gazzetta dello Sport, Napoli are ready to play the waiting game in order to sign the full-back in the ongoing summer transfer window.

Emerson has held talks with Napoli boss Luciano Spalletti and is keen to reunite with his former Roma coach.

But Napoli do not believe that the terms are right for them to sign the Italian at this stage of the window.

The Serie A giants feel Chelsea will soften their stance towards the end of the window and allow Emerson to leave on more favourable terms.

Emerson is keen to move on but it seems he might have to wait longer to find the exit door at Stamford Bridge.
