The teenage midfielder played at the heart of Manchester United’s Under-23 side last season and scored four goals in the Premier League 2 last term.

But his contract expired at the end of last season and he has been on the lookout for a new club this summer.

He is on his way to the north of the border and will be joining Scottish champions Rangers in the ongoing transfer window.

McCann has agreed on a contract with Rangers and it has been claimed that the two clubs have also worked out a compensation fee.

Rangers could end up paying as much as £750,000 to Manchester United for the 19-year-old midfielder if the add-ons kick in.

Once the deal is complete, McCann will join the Rangers B squad but the club have faith in the Ireland youth international.

There are suggestions that Rangers expect the midfielder to make the step up to the first team in a year’s time.
