The 23-year-old swapped Aberdeen for Rangers during the winter transfer window last season and went on to help the Gers clinch the Scottish Premiership title.

Wright made just five league appearances for Rangers last term, but hopes to establish himself as a regular starter for the side this season and has already got a goal to his name.

Impressed with Wright’s attitude, former Rangers star McCann insisted that the Scot has come into the new season with determination to play a key role in the Light Blues’ campaign.

McCann also lifted the lid on a conversation he had with Wright following the trophy presentation last term when the attacker told him about how he is enjoying being a part of a club of Rangers’ size.

I met him after the season last year when they won the league and were presented with the trophy and I met him in the tunnel just outside the dressing room“, McCann said on Rangers TV following the Livingston game.

He said that he just couldn’t believe the size of the club, he couldn’t believe what he has come to, he is absolutely loving it just to be part of something like this and he just can’t wait to get more.

So, he has returned hungry, for me, and he wants to be a bigger part than what he was last season.

Wright began the 2021/22 campaign with a goal against Livingston on Saturday and will be looking to add more to the tally as the season progresses.
