Grealish is on the verge of swapping Aston Villa for Premier League champions Manchester City in a deal that will see Dean Smith’s side bag a transfer fee of £100m.

The England international is expected to undergo a medical with Manchester City today before putting pen to paper on a contract with Pep Guardiola’s side.

The deal will see Grealish becoming the most expensive player in English football history, but the decision to move to Manchester was not an easy one to make for the midfielder.

Grealish is claimed to have been torn between whether to remain at Aston Villa or join Manchester City, who triggered a £100m clause in his contract last week.

The 25-year-old has been an Aston Villa supporter all his life and has been at the Birmingham-based club for 19 years.

It has been suggested Villa were also willing to offer Grealish more in wages than he will earn at Manchester City, but it is his desire to win trophies that has persuaded him to make the switch.

The Villans, though, now hope to reinvest the £100m they will receive from Grealish’s sale to bolster their squad further.
