Barkas joined the Glasgow giants from Greek top flight club AEK Athens for a fee of around £4.5m last summer, but has struggled to make an impact at Parkhead.

The 27-year-old failed to nail down a place as Celtic’s number 1 in his debut season and has gone into the 2021/22 season with uncertainty around his future at the club.

Despite being only one year into his four-year contract with the Bhoys, Barkas could potentially be on his way out of the club during the ongoing transfer window.

While there are question marks regarding his future at Celtic, the Greece international is said to be attracting transfer interest from one or two clubs.

It is said that one or two potential suitors are set to enquire about the possibility of signing the former AEK Athens goalkeeper this summer.

The names of the clubs interested in signing Barkas are yet to be revealed, but Celtic are tipped to be ready to let him go for the right price.

Barkas featured in Celtic’s first four matchday squads of the season, but was left out of Ange Postecoglou’s squad to face Dundee at the weekend.
