Damsgaard’s future at Sampdoria is under the scanner on the back of good performances at club level with Sampdoria and on the international stage with Denmark.

Premier League duo Spurs and Leeds are credited with interest in the Dane, while Serie A giants Roma are also keen on him, but Sampdoria president Massimo Ferrero is claimed to be only willing to let him go on a big-money deal.

New Blucerchiati coach D’Aversa has stressed he would love to work with Damsgaard in the upcoming season, but admitted he could lose him this summer.

D’Aversa added that if Damsgaard remains at Sampdoria beyond the ongoing transfer window and clocks up regular game time next season his stock will only continue to rise.

Asked about Damsgaard’s future, D’Aversa told Italian daily La Repubblica: “I’d love to work with him, but I know I might lose him.

“What I can say is that it would do him good to play continuously in the Italian league.

“Last year he played 24 games, but not always from the start.

“If he could stay, I am convinced that his value would eventually increase.”

It remains to be seen whether Spurs or Leeds make any concrete moves for Damsgaard in the coming weeks with the Dane still having three more years on his current deal Sampdoria.
