Pep Guardiola’s side remain keen to sign England captain Harry Kane from Tottenham Hotspur before the transfer window slams shut, but a surprise striker has popped up on their radar now.

The Premier League champions have taken an interest in Solihull Moors frontman Hudlin, who scored nine goals in the National League for the Moors last season.

Manchester City initially started video scouting the 21-year-old after he popped up on their radar and appear to have been impressed with his abilities.

The European heavyweights sent representatives to watch Hudlin in action in a friendly against Notts County on Saturday, indicating their interest in the striker.

Having scouted the 21-year-old, Manchester City have now joined a number of clubs to be interested in the player, including Championship outfits Cardiff City and Middlesbrough.

The Citizens are said to be on the lookout for young homegrown talent to then send away on loan and help develop, with Hudlin appearing to be a potential candidate.

Standing at 6t 9in, Hudlin is the tallest outfield professional player in Britain and could continue his development further if he earns a move this summer.
