The west Midlands outfit are keen to sign a centre-back and strengthen their defensive options before the transfer window slams shut later this month.
Olympiacos central defender Semedo has emerged as an option for Wolves after the Portugal international was offered to the Premier League club.
There have been claims that Wolves are closing in on the signing of the 27-year-old, with suggestions that only the final details of the transfer are left to be ironed out.
However, those claims appear to be wide of the mark as Wolves are not convinced that signing Semedo from Olympiacos for €10m is ideal for them; it is suggested that they have one to two other centre-backs higher on their shortlist.
Yet to be sold on a €10m for the former Villarreal centre-back, the Molineux outfit have not approached the Greek top flight club with a formal offer.
Wolves remain in talks with Olympiacos over a potential deal for Semedo, but it remains to be seen if they will sign him this summer.
The defender has two more years remaining on his contract with Olympiacos, but has made it clear that he wants to leave this summer after the club failed to qualify for the Champions League group stage.
