The 26-year-old forward was the top goalscorer in the Dutch Eredivisie last season and is a massive target for Celtic.
The Bhoys have been in talks with Venlo and the player’s representatives over taking the forward to Parkhead in the ongoing transfer window.
They have one part of the deal sorted out as it has been claimed that Celtic have agreed on a fee with Venlo for the striker’s potential transfer.
Celtic have agreed to pay a figure of €2.5m initially to Venlo for the signature of the Greek international this summer.
Venlo have also managed to secure a significant percentage of the centre-forward’s next transfer as part of a sell-on clause.
The focus will now shift to agreeing on personal terms with the player and convincing him to move to Scotland.
Giakoumakis is also wanted in Germany where Werder Bremen want him and the Bundesliga club met the player and his camp on Wednesday.
The striker is reportedly demanding wages to the tune of €700,000 per year from his suitors.
