Vlahovic’s future at Fiorentina is under the scanner with the player stuck between the possibility of signing a new contract or joining a European heavyweight in the final days of the window.

Atletico Madrid are ready to sign him for a fee of €70m and he has also been linked with a move to England where Tottenham Hotspur have shown the keenest interest in securing his services.

Commisso previously conceded that he cannot turn his back on big offers for Vlahovic, but stressed that the contract offer on the striker’s table is the most expensive one in Fiorentina’s history.

He indicated that the Serbian’s representatives are pushing him towards a transfer, but the Fiorentina president remains confident that Vlahovic will choose to stay at the club this season.

Commisso was quoted as saying by Italian broadcaster Sportitalia: “We want to keep him, but his agents are involved and those who advise him.

“This is an incredible situation. We offered him a contract that he had accepted with a big raise, it was more expensive than [Franck] Ribery’s.

“The most expensive in the history of Fiorentina.

“At 21, I was earning $10,000 a year, he could make $300,000 a game.

“I told him, think of your family. You don’t know what will happen tomorrow.

“I remain optimistic that he will stay at Fiorentina.”

With eleven days left in the window, Fiorentina are keen to sort out Vlahovic’s future as soon as possible.
