West Ham have started the season strongly by winning their first two league games and scoring eight times in the process.
The Hammers finished sixth in the Premier League last season and many felt they overachieved under former Manchester United boss David Moyes.
They have been relatively quiet in the ongoing transfer window, but a good start to the season has boosted their confidence.
Bent admitted that West Ham are an exciting team to watch with players such as Michail Antonio and Said Benrahma lighting up the pitch.
He stressed that they had a great season last term, but believes they can do even better if they can bring in some fresh faces before the end of the transfer window.
The former striker said on talkSPORT: “They are so exciting to watch.
“Antonio just at the minute playing really well, even Benrahma in terms of, he got better this season.
“They look like a collective as a unit all in tandem, playing really well, playing with a lot of confidence, energy and pace.
“West Ham are sitting at the top of the table.
“If they can get one or a couple more signings in before the window closes, I think they can really [challenge].
“They had a good season last time but I think they can do better this year.”
Moyes wants to bring in a centre-back and a forward before the window slams shut a week from today.
