The Hammers have made a great start to the season, winning their first two league games and scoring eight goals in the process.

Michail Antonio became the club’s highest ever goalscorer in the Premier League when he scored against Leicester on Monday night, but the cupboard is bare beyond him in the striking department.

David Moyes wants to sign a striker and the club are exploring the possibility of bringing in a forward before Tuesday’s transfer deadline.

The east London club looked at the possibility of signing Plea from Gladbach this summer, but it has been claimed they have passed on the opportunity.

The Frenchman has already scored in the Bundesliga this season and is an experienced forward.

But West Ham have turned their attention away from trying to sign him at a late stage of the window.

A forward is still on their agenda but for the moment, they are not likely to sign Plea this summer.

It remains to be seen whether that changes as they approach deadline day next week on Tuesday.
