Lingard had a brilliant loan spell at West Ham in the second half of last season and helped the Hammers to qualify for the Europa League.
West Ham have been interested in signing him on a permanent deal but they have failed to make any inroads in talks with Manchester United over agreeing on a fee.
Lingard came on as a substitute for Manchester United against Southampton at the weekend but his future still remains unclear ahead of next week’s transfer deadline.
West Ham are still interested and it has been claimed that they recently made another check on his situation at Old Trafford.
But the Hammers are still not interested in paying the £30m fee Manchester United are demanding for him.
He only has a year left on his contract and West Ham believe that is not the right valuation of the player.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer wants him in the squad this season but Manchester United have not ruled out selling him before the end of the window.
Lingard’s potential departure could free up funds for Solskjaer to bring in one more player too.
