The 21-year-old made a bright start to his Newcastle career, scoring the winner in his Premier League debut against Manchester United in 2019.
However, Longstaff fell out of favour under Steve Bruce last season and looks set to leave the Magpies on loan before Tuesday’s transfer deadline.
Scottish Premiership side Aberdeen have been credited with an interest in the midfielder, with Newcastle said to be in talks over a deal with the Dons.
However, Longstaff is said to have options other than Stephen Glass’ side as the transfer deadline approaches.
While he has several options on his table, Longstaff will look to move to the club where he feels he will play the most amount of first team football.
With playing time a top priority for the youngster, it remains to be seen if Aberdeen can guarantee him more first team action than his other suitors.
Having fallen out of favour at Newcastle last season, Longstaff will be keen to get his back on track wherever he plays in the 2021/22 campaign.
