Tottenham attracted criticism for their 1-0 defeat to Pacos in the first leg of their Europa Conference League playoff tie last week.

But Spurs hammered Pacos in the second leg at home on Thursday night and scored a comfortable 3-0 win to make to the group stages of the third tier European competition this season.

Harry Kane missed a great opportunity to score in the first 20 seconds of the game, but Simao admits that it meant that his side were under pressure from the get-go.

He insisted that his team were mentally prepared for the challenge but conceded Tottenham meant business and they were at a completely different level.

Simao believes that after the first leg that his side could have scored more and he feels that a bigger lead might have helped against Spurs.

The Pacos coach was quoted as saying by Portuguese sports daily A Bola: “After 20 seconds, Kane was through on the goal facing the goalkeeper and immediately put us under pressure.

“Tottenham came with the intention of sorting out the tie and we were mentally prepared for the match.

“They are a different level.

“If we had brought a two-goal lead, things could have been different.”

Tottenham have won their opening two league games and will look to keep their 100 per cent record going when they host Watford on Sunday.
