Hourihane captained Aston Villa against Barrow in the EFL Cup last week, but could be on his way out of the club soon.

The Ireland international has been tipped by many to leave Villa Park before Tuesday’s transfer deadline and appears to have finally found a club.

Championship club Sheffield United are set to acquire Hourihane’s services on a temporary deal from Aston Villa.

The central midfielder is expected to undergo a medical with the Blades today before putting pen to paper on a loan contract.

Hourihane has entered the final year of his deal with Aston Villa and it remains to be seen if he is handed a contract extension before moving to Bramall Lane.

Sheffield United are looking to earn their way back into the Premier League, having suffered relegation from the top flight last term.

And they will be hoping that Hourihane’s arrival will boost their chances of earning promotion this season.
